Ramon R. Duran, 75 of Silver City passed away December 18, 2012 after a long illness.

The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Dec. 21st at the Santa Clara Catholic Church at 10 o’clock in the morning with Father Robert Becerra officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment with Veterans Honors followed at the Fierro Cemetery.

He was born in Fierro, New Mexico on April 24, 1937 to Ramon and Maria Duran. He was a member of the Air National Guard for 39 years and served four of those years in the Air Force, He served his country in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Sally. He is also survived by his children, Raymond Duran and wife Renee, David Duran, and Mary Larrazolo, all of Albuquerque; Christina Delgado and husband Steve, Guy Ramirez and wife Julie, and Yvonne Chavez and husband Steve, all of Silver City. Other surviving family members are his brothers, Eloy Duran and wife Gloria, Joe Aguirre and wife Suki, and sister Martha Aguirre. Surviving him are his grandchildren, Jacob Larrazolo, Gilbert, Richelle, and Dillon Duran, Danielle Aguirre, Nicholas and Jose Luis Delgado, Christopher and Anthony Chavez, and eight great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers were Dillon Duran, Gilbert Duran, Jacob Larrazolo, Milo Young, Nick Delgado and Anthony Chavez.
