Salaiz

Gilbert P. Salaiz, 64, a lifelong resident of Deming, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. As was his request, cremation will take place and has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Mimbres Crematory. Urn bearer will be Armando Lucero.

Gilbert was born August 17, 1948 in Deming to Gilbert and Mary (Pacheco) Salaiz. After graduation Gilbert worked in the mining industry for 30 years and afterward continued working as a truck driver. He was also a Deming Public Schools bus driver for 8 years, a member of the New Mexico National Guard and a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Gilbert is survived by his mother, Mary Pacheco Salaiz of Deming; his lifelong companion, Grace Woolsey of Deming; his brother, Ernest Salaiz and his wife Gloria Marquez of Las Cruces; his sister, Iris Salaiz-Ranjel and husband Mark of Las Cruces; sisters-in-law Janet Woolsey of Las Cruces and Diane Woolsey of San Diego; nieces, Evelyn Salaiz, Lysandra Salaiz, Ciliana Salaiz, Kelsey Luna, Jacinda Ranjel, and Marcayla Rangel; his nephew, Ruben Salaiz and wife Jovonnie Trujillo, great-nephew Abraham Josiah Salaiz, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Salaiz Sr., brother, Ruben Salaiz, maternal grandparents, Florentino and Josefina Pacheco and paternal grandparents, Protacio and Prisciliana Salaiz.
