John August Pecka, 70, died on March 26, 2013 in his home in Silver City. His adopted home for almost 30 years, New Mexico was where he found the solace of the sun and warmth of the vibrant people who completed his life.

Visitation well be held on Thursday, April 4th 4:30 to 7 pm at Baca’s Funeral Chapels.  Concluding services and interment will be held on Friday, April 5th 2013 at 11:30 in the morning at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with veteran honors accorded by the local veteran groups.

He was born in Waterbury Connecticut on February 14, 1943. He attended Fairfield University and was a member of the Air force during the Vietnam War. John completed his master’s degree in Communications at London University, and the University of Connecticut.

He will be missed by his sisters Kathryn and Carolyn Pecka, his brother David Pecka and wife Annmarie, bother in laws Joe Lango and Tom Wisler. He was was beloved by his nieces Melvina and Erin, and his nephew Devon. His friends and relatives loved and treasured his endless curiosity and joy for life.
