Mary Dolores Savory, 77, a resident of Santa Clara, NM

SavoryMMary Dolores Savory, 77, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Silver City Care Center.  She was born August 7, 1946 in Central, NM to Isaac Barraza and Consuelo Holguin.

Mary was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who spent much of her life taking care of her kids and grandkids whom she loved like no other. She took special care of her daughter who was special needs. She did anything for her grandkids (abuela) as they called her was the light of their eyes. Mary loved her Chicago Bulls and watching her novellas. Drinking coffee with the grandkids and snacking on sweets. She loved listening to her country and Spanish music on the radio and cooking for family. She worked for Beehive homes for several years until her health did not allow her too.  She was a jokester with a wild sense of humor. Those who knew her know she spoke her mind. Mary will be missed dearly and is now reunited with her daughter Rhonda.

Marshall Moore, 83, a resident of Silver City, NM

MooreMIt is with profound and heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of a true gentleman, Marshall Moore, who passed away at home on Monday, January 15th, 2024. Marshall was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Words will never fully capture the love, support, and meaning he provided to his family and to innumerable others whose lives he touched.

A psychologist by training, Marshall was a lifelong innovator in education. His career path included public school administrator, university faculty member, educational consultant, and private practitioner. Marshall never feared challenging creative boundaries or reexamining the rules guiding successful student learning.

In his retirement years as an alumnus of WNMU, Marshall volunteered his time and expertise in many areas, especially towards supporting the students through the WNMU Alumni Foundation. Marshall is preceded in death by son Robbie Moore and wife Sandra Cobb Moore.

Jane Margaret Nichols, 89, a resident of Deming, NM

NicholsJJane Margaret Nichols, 89, longtime Deming resident passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter Lisa and son in law Bob by her side on Monday, January 15, 2024.

A graveside service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bill Nichols. Cremation has entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.

Jane was born February 22, 1934 in the Bronx, New York to Raymond Bonville and Mildred Thompson.  She was a homemaker when she was raising her children. Once her children got older, Jane worked for the public school in California as an E.A for several years. After moving to Deming, she became a caregiver to Dr. Hossley and to Clarabelle Gore. In her younger days Jane enjoyed going to the gym and exercising. She loved sitting in her backyard watching the birds at the bird feeder. She also loved working in her garden. She loved animals, especially her two dogs Taffy and Willow. Jane was a very loving and caring mother to all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved them dearly with all her heart.

Atocha O. Miranda, 71, a resident of Deming, NM

MirandaAAtocha O. Miranda, 71, Deming resident passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will take place at Baca’s Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 18, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning. Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon at Templo Nueva Vida with Pastor Isacc Corral officiating. The final interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Atocha was born August 27, 1952 in Peña Blanca, Chihuahua, Mexico to Antonia Beltran and Octavio Orona. She loved spending time with her family, listening to music, traveling, and shopping.

Atocha is survived by her mother Antonia Orona Beltran; her husband Jose Angel Miranda; 10 children Heriberto (Karla) Miranda, Jaime (Magda) Miranda, Claudia (Alonso) Gutierrez, Francisca (Hector) Ruiz, Ofelia (Tony) Pedraza, Miguel (Concepcion) Miranda, Marycela (Adan) Rincon, Diana (Mario) Miranda, Flor (Jesus) Cabrera and Vicente (Adriana) Miranda; 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and her siblings Olivia, Olga, Luz Elena, Blanca, Belen, Pepe, Marcos, and Ricardo.
