Manuel D. Gonzales, 86, passed on entering into eternal rest on December 25 2023.
Manuel was born August 1, 1937, in Sliver City, N.M. He is son of Rosa Dominguez and Geronimo Gonzales and preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Theodora Mecendez, Edward Gonzales, Jose Gonzales, Basilio Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Albert Gonzales and Concha Millan. He is survived by one brother, Geronimo Gonzales (Beatrice), his two children; (son) Manuel Gonzales of Arenas Valley, (daughter) Maxine (Ole) Llamas of Mesa, Arizona. Also, our four Grand-children, Steven Anthony Madrid (Jamie) of Morenci, Az. Stephanie Anissa Madrid of Morenci, Az. Katrina Nikole Sanchez (Oscar) of Las Cruces, N.M. Manuel Gonzales III of Arenas Valley, NM. Also, our seven Great Grand-children; Beverly Christine Sanchez, Joseph Andrew Sanchez, Sofia Mckenzie Sanchez, Nickolas Ethan Sanchez, Rachel Raelynn Madrid, Elliana Ellen Madrid, Cameila Amor Madrid, including numerous nieces and nephews.
James Hiltsley, 80, a resident of Silver City, NM

James Hiltsley, 80, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest on Christmas morning, Monday, December 25, 2023 at his residence. Jim (Sarge) was born to his parents, Arthur and Marion (Mahar) Hiltsley near Schenectady, New York in 1943. In the early 1950's, his family re-located to Albuquerque NM where he discovered his passion of cowboying. He graduated Highland High School in 1961 and went on to play football at UTEP where he was later drafted to play for the Dallas Cowboys. He declined the offered and joined the U.S. NAVY instead. He proudly served 4 years during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged. He rode the rodeo circuit for a few years, riding bareback broncos. In the mid 1970's he joined the NM State Police where he served for 25 years, eventually retiring in Silver City as a Sergeant in the mid 1990's.
During his early years in the State Police, he met the love of his life and married Cheryl. They lovingly raised their daughter Tracey who later went on the be a highly successful medical professional and veteran.

Privetts, Charles (Charley) R. Born 6-2-1957 – Died 12-21-2023
Charley was a lifelong resident of the Mimbres Valley.
He will be greatly missed by his big family and numerous friends. He worked in the medical field until he found his passion for cooking. He loved to cook and was well known for his time as being a wonderful chef.
Charley is survived by his sisters Joann Powers of Mimbres, NM, Sandy (Lawrence) Gaston of Las Cruces, NM, and brothers Billy (Wilma) Privetts of Denver City, TX, and Bobby Privetts of Trinidad, Co. Many nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
There are no services planned at this time.

John Henry Von Tress Jr., 88, a resident of Las Cruces, NM

John Henry Von Tress Jr., 88, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away at home on December 22, 2023. John was born on March 15, 1935, in Santa Rita, to Alice and John Henry Von Tress Sr.
As a child, he loved to ride the wild donkeys around Santa Rita with his friends. The family moved to what became the family farm on the Mimbres River. He worked construction as a young man and returned to the farm to raise his children and care for his sister, Mary Alice, after the death of their mother. John and his family farmed and delivered hay, equipment, and supplies to ranchers and businesses throughout the western states. John and his wife, Louise, sold the family farm in 2006 and moved to Las Cruces to enjoy retirement.
Many of John’s friends were blessed to share stories and see photos from his “Ugly Book”, a book of his adventures and the interesting characters he met along the way. John embraced life with a sense of humor and dedication to those he loved. Family remembers truck rides working with him, his beloved dog (Peggy Sue) riding in front of him on his four-wheeler, shooting and reloading, listening to Johnny Cash on repeat, capturing life stories from people he admired with a camcorder, after dinner coffee, and a cheerful whistle that followed him wherever he went.
Aylynn Brekhus, a resident of Deming, NM

Aylynn Brekhus passed away surrounded by her family on December 12, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by daughters Bailey King, Davyn Matte, and Katie King and son Brandon Matte, along with two grandchildren.
Born in Deming and later spending time in Arizona and Montana before returning, Aly lived a fruitful life. Family was the most important thing to her, and she never missed an opportunity to show her love and support for them. She had a great sense of humor and a deep love for music and movies, which she passed on to her children. She loved being outdoors and took every opportunity to fish, camp, and hunt. All of which she excelled at.
A celebration of life will be held on December 30 at 2 pm at the Deming Learning Center - 2300 E Pine St, Deming, NM 88030. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Nadine D. Langlinais, 99, a resident of Silver City, NM

Nadine Dixie Doyle was born on August 1, 1924, at the JC Cox Family Ranch in Sheridan, WY, to Godfrey and Helen Cox Doyle. She peacefully passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 99, at Ft Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara, NM.
Nadine, alongside her younger sister Shirley, began her educational journey at Mission San Luis Rey in Long Beach, CA. Following her parents' divorce, she returned to the Cox Ranch on Prairie Dog outside Sheridan. Both sisters attended parochial school and graduated from Sheridan High School.
In pursuit of her lifelong dream of becoming an RN, Nadine entered St. Luke's School of Nursing in Denver, CO, in 1942, and was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corp. While in training, fate led her to meet Frank P. Langlinais who was serving in the Marine Corp, stationed in San Diego. WWII ended and they were married on December 28, 1945, in Port Arthur, TX.
Horacio Villegas, Jr., 49, a resident of Silver City, NM

Horacio Villegas, Jr., 49, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM.
Horacio also known as Jr was born and raised in Silver City. Since childhood, he had a charisma that always attracted a multitude of friends. He was loved by everyone and was most known for his joking personality. He always had a way of making you laugh. He had a heart of gold. He was kind hearted and caring. He was a loving father and grandfather. His hobbies included riding his bike and cutting wood and jamming out to his favorite Mexican music. There are no words to explain how much he will be missed, but draw comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.
He is survived by his parents, Horacio and Anjelina “Angie” Villegas of the family home; his sons, Brandon Villegas of Silver City; Steven Ortega of Morenci, AZ; his daughter, Alexis Hernandez of Silver City; six grandchildren; his brother, Carlos Villegas and wife Lydia of Silver City; his sisters, Maria Elena Villegas and husband Antonio of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico; Patrica Lewis; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
