jaurequi Cecilia “Celia” Jaurequi, 93, a resident of Hurley, NM, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Riley, NM, February 4, 1930 to Telesfora (Peralta) and Claudio Baca.

She was widowed in 2015 from her husband Nacho Jaurequi of 68 years. She was known as Big Grandma by her great grandchildren. She loved and was always so proud of her grandchildren’s success. Never missed any special occasions. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She left beautiful memories of trips to the mountains and was a pretty good fisherman at that!!  She loved having flowers during the spring time. She taught us her way of cooking and handed down her recipes. Her favorite place to go was Wal-Mart and the Single Socks 2nd hand store.  Everyday she would wait for 6pm to come around to watch her favorite game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She will be deeply missed.
