The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
Northwestern Grant County in south central New Mexico...
Northwestern Hidalgo County in southwestern New Mexico...

* Until 915 PM MDT

* At 612 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory
area, especially around low lying areas like low water crossings
and arroyos.

 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Buckhorn...
Gila Hot Springs...
Virden...
Cliff...
Gila...
Riverside...
Gila Riparian Preserve...
and Bill Evans Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
