Dust Plumes and Channels Developing on Lordsburg Playa...

At 301 PM MDT plumes of blowing dust were beginning to develop on
Lordsburg Playa adjacent to Interstate 10. Expect periodic dust
to continue to develop through the afternoon hours as wind gusts
approach 30 mph.

Motorists should use extreme caution if traveling on I-10 between
Lordsburg and the Arizona State Line. Abrupt visibility changes
can occur at any moment with strong winds around the playa.

If caught in a dust storm, pull off to the side of the road, turn
off all lights, and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Otherwise,
other motorists may assume you are still moving in the travel
lane.

Dusty conditions will diminish at sunset.
