flood advisory 071618The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
East central Grant County in south central New Mexico...

* Until 1045 PM MDT.

* At 749 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Radar has indicated from one to two inches of
rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...

Hanover...
San Juan...
Arenas Valley...
Fierro...
Tyrone...
San Lorenzo...
Cobre...
Santa Clara...
Silver City...
North Hurley...
Bayard...
Fort Bayard...
Hurley...
Little Walnut Village...
Sherman...
Tyrone Mine...
Mangas Valley...
and Mimbres.

Additional rainfall from storms upstream is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result potential for more
flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
