You might have heard the saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” But have you ever paused to reflect on the profound truth it holds, especially in our efforts to address homelessness?

Meet Maria, a middle school teacher with an unwavering determination to use education as a beacon of hope. Striving to equip them with job-oriented skills and literacy, she believed in education as a long-term solution to homelessness.

Maria’s ‘Street to School’ program was no less than a revolution. She saw her pupils transforming right before her eyes - from dependent individuals to independent and self-empowered. Maria’s tale demonstrates that the power to uplift the homeless lies in giving and educating. Every individual we empower through education can break the cycle of homelessness, not only for themselves but potentially for generations to come.
