The two public school districts that serve the people of Grant County have been contacted by The Chronicles Of Grant County during the past two months to determine if funds that appear to be unclaimed monies due to those school districts are in fact funds due to them. These funds are being held by the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.

Silver Consolidated Schools indicated that it is reviewing information from the website used by the State of New Mexico. Cobre Consolidated Schools has not responded to any of the requests for information from The Chronicles Of Grant County.

According to information on the MissingMoney.Com website, American Family Life Assurance reported more than $100 due to "City Consolidated Schools Sivler." Applied Industrial Technologie[s] reported that it owed more than $100 to "Silver City Cons Schools," while Ambank reported it owed more than $100 to Silver Consolidated Schools.

Target Corporation reported it owed under $100 to "Harrison Schmitt Elem School" at 2810 North Swan, while Aetna Financial Services reported that it owed more than $100 due to "Schools Business Office A" at 2810 North Swan. The address for Silver Consolidated Schools is 2810 North Swan.

QSP reported that it owed more than $100 to "La Plata Middle Sch." La Plata Middle School is part of the Silver Consolidated School District.

Pearson Education reported that it owed more than $100 to Central Elementary School at 600 Prescott in Central, New Mexico, in the Cobre Consolidated School District. Central was renamed "Santa Clara." The zip code listed for this Central Elementary School is 88026; the zip code for Santa Clara is 88026.

NationsBank of Grant County reported that it owed more than $100 to "Board of Education Cobre." The address for this Board of Education, though, is located in Silver City.

Information about unclaimed funds potentially due to other governmental entities in Grant County will be detailed in future editions of The Chronicles Of Grant County.
