Year 2023 – Part One

As part of efforts to return funds to local folks, The Chronicles Of Grant County will be producing several news columns on the subject during 2023. Many individuals, businesses, organizations, and other entities may not realize that they have funds owed to them that are in Santa Fe (and elsewhere) at this time.

This news column focuses on some of the financial service businesses – banks, insurance companies, loan providers, and mortgage businesses – that have operations in Grant County.

Several banks in Silver City have unclaimed funds owed to them as of January 14, 2023. The nine items listed as being owed to banks are each in excess of $100.00; the actual amount owed to these banks is not publicly disclosed by the State of New Mexico.

One insurance company provided the State with unclaimed funds due to one bank. An office supply company provided New Mexico with unclaimed monies due to one bank. A copier company provided the State with unclaimed funds due to one bank.

One bank provided the State with unclaimed funds due to another bank with a different name.

Five of the items of unclaimed funds of banks in Silver City that were reported to the State are listed as having co-owners. One bank provided the State with unclaimed funds for three of these items, one insurance company provided New Mexico with unclaimed monies for one of these items, and one securities company provided the State with unclaimed funds for one of these items.

One bank listed as having a location in Hurley has more than $100 in unclaimed funds held by New Mexico as of January 14, 2023; the funds were reported by an insurance company.

One loan servicing company, with a co-owner, in Silver City has unclaimed funds owed to it; the monies were reported to the State by an insurance company. The unclaimed funds are in excess of $100 as of January 14, 2023.

One mortgage company in Silver City has unclaimed funds – for it and a co-owner – held by the State of New Mexico; the funds were reported by an insurance business. The value of these unclaimed monies is between $50 and $100 as of January 14, 2023.

There are seven unclaimed fund items owed to four insurance agencies in Silver City. It appears that these seven items were reported to New Mexico by other insurance companies or a State property insurance program.

Five of these seven items are in amounts in excess of $100 each. The other two items are in the range of $50 to $100 each. These amounts are as of January 14, 2023.

You can check to see if your bank, loan servicing company, mortgage company, or insurance business has unclaimed funds – or to find out if you yourself have unclaimed property owed to you – by visiting the website utilized by the State of New Mexico (and other states, commonwealths, and the District of Columbia) for unclaimed property. Click here to visit this specific website.

Previous news columns have detailed specific techniques to search for unclaimed property. Please review those news columns for some additional information on this subject.

Information about unclaimed funds potentially due to others in the local communities in Grant County will be detailed in future editions of The Chronicles Of Grant County.
