We Must Protect Our Neighborhoods with our Constitutionally Protected Firearms

We want neighborhoods we can walk in without fear. We want our precious belongings not to be stolen when we are away from our homes. We want our loved ones to be safe when we are not there to protect them. These are not extravagant wants; these are basic needs stolen from us by those Santa Fe Democrats.
When our daughter, a UNM Medical student was interning at the UNM Hospital's Emergency Department there were eleven shooting victims in one night. Her experience that night was similar to a Mobile Army Surgical hospital, save the ones you can and pray for those you can't. Santa Fe Democrats' actions have turned our neighborhoods into shooting galleries.
Our daughter experienced a home invasion in 2021. She heard banging at her front door. She saw a man breaking through the front door sidelight. She took off for the back bedroom window as he struggled to get past the broken glass in the door sidelight. He pursued her despite his injuries and stopped when she entered the neighbor's home. The police arrived forty-five minutes after the emergency 911 call. Santa Fe Democrats' actions have left our loved ones unprotected.
As the APD patrolmen were completing their paperwork, it was apparent they knew who the assailant was. In addition, the APD forensic team collected the assailant's bloody fingerprints and DNA (blood) samples to identify the assailant. However, no charges were ever filed against the assailant. Santa Fe Democrats' actions allow violent criminals to treat our loved ones.
While the APD forensic team collected evidence, the Albuquerque Fire Department was treating the assailant's injuries. Neither the AFD nor the city addressed our daughter's trauma from escaping an attempted assault. Santa Fe Democrats care more for criminals than the victims.
Two weeks later, I was at a ribbon-cutting event with the mayor and a city council member and shared my daughter's experience with them. The mayor listened and responded; the courts are turning these people back out on the street. The city council member responded that she was sorry our daughter went through that ordeal. But, unfortunately, neither offered concrete steps they were taking to protect our loved ones.
My construction company has experienced burglaries, vandalism, and stolen equipment and trucks. Despite police knowing who stole or who had our stolen equipment, not one person was charged with a crime. We are no longer purchasing construction equipment because it will only benefit criminals. Santa Fe Democrats made crime profitable.
Other states have three strikes (three felonies) laws that result in years of incarceration. New Mexico doesn't. A twice-convicted felon told me he moved to New Mexico because it was too stressful to avoid that third felony in his home state. Santa Fe Democrats' actions encourage felons to move to New Mexico.
Santa Fe Democrats recognized the public employee unions (in exchange for campaign support), including police unions. The result was police unions protecting "rogue police officers" from being fired. In 2014 the US DOJ assumed control of APD because of the abusive actions of the "rogue police officers" against criminals. The result is that the police can't protect neighborhoods, can't stop the criminals, and can't perform their role in prosecuting the criminals. They can only process paperwork and ticket (that is what speed cameras are for). The law-abiding citizens
It is time for the good people of New Mexico to stand up to the Santa Fe Democrats. March on New Mexico's Capital Building, to the Senators' and Representatives' Offices, and the Governor's Office. Demand, "We Have a Right to Safe Neighborhoods. We will protect our neighborhoods with our own constitutionally protected firearms if you can't do the job."
