I am on vacation this week enjoying some down time. I can say that I'm a little disappointed that the trial is beginning and that I am going to be distracted by the beach, the cervezas, golf, and lots of other fun and won't be able to really keep up on what is happening.

There is a lot of opinion that this trial will result in President Trump not being convicted. I hope that they will be proven correct, but given the way things have gone the last decade or so in the Swamp, I am more than a bit concerned. History is a very good teacher.

Where do we start with Hillary Clinton? A clearly illegal email server with a resulting investigation that 'cleared' her of wrongdoing because 'she didn't mean to break the law'.

There is the Inspector General's report into the conduct of members of our law enforcement community's actions related to 'investigating' the President and his staff that found multiple breaches of protocol, violations of the law, and clear intent to conduct an investigation that would reach a desired outcome rather than find the truth. And what happened? Nothing.

We have seen at least 6 Democrat Representatives state publicly that they did not see any basis for impeachment or had concerns about how the impeachment was being handled, yet they all retracted their statements and voted for impeachment after being pressured by the leadership in the House.

Move to the Senate where the Democrats seem to be in lockstep to find the President guilty of something, anything. So much so that they support articles of impeachment that fail to identify an impeachable crime. Add to that the RINOs like Romney, Murkowski, and others that hate the President. Or Mitch McConnell, a man I do not trust at all paired with Chief Justice John Roberts, the advocate that declared Obama Care constitutional based on an argument not even put forth by the proponents?

Put all of that together and would it really be a huge stretch or surprise to see them show their true colors and vote to convict the President? Sadly, I don't think so. While I hold out hope that justice will be served, I'm not as optimistic as most.
