It's time for another hodgepodge column featuring several different topics, which usually means there isn't a single topic that has gained my undivided attention or I just haven't been paying attention to much in the news. Either way, it gives you a preview of what is coming up on the radio show tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. on KSCQ 92.9 FM (shameless plug).

Have you ever been pulled over for DWI or driving on a suspended license? What happened to you? If it's a DWI and you failed the field tests, I'm pretty sure you were arrested and taken to jail. A suspended license could result in the same consequences or at the least, you aren't allowed to drive away and have to call someone to come get you. If you are in this country illegally, guess what? You could very well be let off in both situations. Another sanctuary city announced this week that illegal aliens will not be arrested for DWI or driving on a suspended license because that could trigger a notification to ICE. Another city said they will release prisoners awaiting trial on more serious crimes after 364 days, because on the 365th day an automatic notice is sent to ICE. How did we get to a situation where we are treating non-citizens better than citizens?

Did you realize the only part of your reflection that you can lick is your tongue? How many of you will try and prove me wrong later?

Memphis Meats is at the forefront of a new technology; they are growing meat from cells rather than slaughtering live animals. They keep cattle, chickens, and ducks in a small farm near their plant, then harvest cells from the live animals. They take a sample about the size of a grain of rice, then grow meat in a laboratory. It takes 4-6 weeks for the food to grow and then it's harvested. Looking at their website, the chicken breast looks like chicken breast; beef is in the form of meatballs and duck is in tiny bite sized pieces like you'd put on a shish-kebab. It's more humane, no antibiotics are needed, it grows as if it was still attached to a living animal... I don't know. Listening to Uma, one of the founders, he said it tastes identical to what we buy in the store. But there's no bone for my T-bone steak. Aren't we depriving dogs of that treat? I'll probably try it someday, but I won't be able to get images of Soylent Green out of my head. If you are a vegetarian because you love animals, will this entice you to come back to the dark side?

When I get really bored at night, I will text a random number telling them they really should clean under their bed because it's really dirty under here. P.S. I love you.

In a video posted on YouTube this month, John Kerry admits that not only did then V.P. Joe Biden put pressure on the Ukrainian government to fire the prosecutor looking into corruption allegations that involved Hunter Biden, but that he, President Obama, and others in the administration were also very involved in getting the prosecutor fired. Interestingly, John Kerry's stepson was a partner of Hunter Biden in Rosemont Capital. Chris Heinz almost immediately distanced himself from the move by Biden by sending an email to the State Department expressing concern about the move by Biden & his other partner, Dan Archer. But in true 'swamp' fashion, Kerry helped out his fellow swamp rats not by supporting his stepson but by getting the prosecutor fired. Why isn't the media talking about this?

Any endurance athlete will tell you that planning is as important as training. Whether it's running a 100 mile race, taking part in a 24 hour bike race, or real mountain climbing, you have to plan for all eventualities and be ready to deal with them. Colin O'Brady is one of those competitors. Last year he attempted to become the first person to ski across Antarctica without any assistance during his trip. He succeeded but barely. On the 16th day of the 54 day trip, he decided to deviate from his planned meal schedule and loaded up on fatty food, more than he'd planned to eat. The next day, his stomach began rumbling. He did his best to ignore it, not wanting to stop for a bathroom break until the planned time. Not easy going to the bathroom in the Antarctic. We've all done, what he did next, trust that he was passing gas and not solid material. He was wrong. It happens. But Colin had only packed one set of underwear, which he was wearing! How do you not packed 2-3 pairs?! He claimed he was exchanging the weight of the undies on his sled for more food. Even if you don't have an accident, how crusty would that underwear be after 54 days? I'm just saying.

KOAT published a story about the best green chile cheeseburgers in the state. It was unscientific but based upon responses received on their Facebook page. Most of the top 7 were in Albuquerque; restaurants that I'd never heard of and described most often as a 'hole in the wall' or 'small family joint' which lends credibility to their being on the list. Interestingly, neither Lotaburger nor What-a-Burger (a TX abomination) were on the list. The Owl Bar was #2. I'll probably be called a heretic, but I've never been that impressed with the Owl Bar burger. It's good, but not great. Numero Uno was Sparky's in Hatch. Guess where I'm going this weekend?
