It is another one of those weeks where there is so much going on, not just in the world but in my life that I cannot pick one topic to focus upon for this week's column. That means we get another random observations and thoughts column that jumps around like a 5-year-old at Christmas time trying to decide which new toy to play with.

Joe Biden is considering establishing a rule that would allow the IRS to access individual bank accounts and take money the IRS claims is owed to the federal government without obtaining any kind of warrant or giving any advance notice to the bank account owner. He claims this will result in the wealthy Americans paying their 'fair share.' No, this results in the federal government taking more power and becoming more tyrannical. He might have a problem with this one because most of his wealthy supporters are the ones that will be targeted. Especially the ones that claim the wealthy do not pay their fair share including Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, both of whom are fighting the IRS over taxes they claim they do not owe that the federal government claims they do.

It is no secret that there are an abundance of jobs available yet people are staying home because of the stimulus and unemployment benefits they are receiving. Kudos to several states that are using unemployment benefit money not to keep people at home but rather paying bonuses if they go take a job. I'm sure our governor does not believe that will work.

Windham NH might just be at the center of the election controversy. A traditional Republican stronghold, the results of the election as announced by the town clerk in the New Hampshire Secretary of State, who are both Democrats I believe, found that in one race, Kristi St. Laurent – D had lost by only 24 votes and she demanded a recount. The hand recount determined that she did not lose by 24 votes but by 420. That is a huge swing in a town of 14,000 people. The hand recount also found that every Republican candidate had been shortchanged. Interestingly the cameras that were put in place in the clerk's office so that people could monitor home machines as well as the counting of the votes went dark for about 90 minutes on election night. The state legislature is calling for a recount of the entire states vote which the Democrat Secretary of State is resisting. The odds of a single party's candidates all being shortchanged without deliberate intervention in the process are miniscule.

Time to create some more panic. Several news outlets are reporting that the India variant of the coronavirus has seen an increase of 160% in infected people in one week. Sure seems like a lot doesn't it? What would you think if I told you that the number of cases last week was just over 1300 and the number of cases this week is just over 3200? In one of the most populous countries in the world where people are on top of each other and cleanliness is not a priority.

Some of you are gonna be mad about the last sentence in that previous paragraph but I am not talking about the people themselves, when you have a billion people living in a small space, hygiene takes a hit no matter how much you try. People are still washing their clothes and bathing in rivers as well as going to the bathroom outside.

People who enjoy meetings should not be put in charge of anything.

Your chances of being killed by a bunny rabbit are low but are never zero.

No matter how big a hammer you use, you just cannot pound common sense into some people.

I find it interesting that the two voice dictation programs I use will never ever capitalize president trump but never failed to capitalize any other president's name.

In case you were wondering why your gas station ran out of gas, the toilet paper people got there first. By the way, if you are one of those people, use a Styrofoam cooler to hoard gas it's a little more stable than a Walmart bag. (If you know what is wrong with that statement keep it to yourself, I'm trying to thin the herd).

Is the sequencing of the stoplights at Hwy 180 E and 32nd St Bypass Rd the dumbest thing you have ever seen? Thanks, NMDOT, you're doing another bang up job. But at least you know to remove only Republican Party candidate signs from the right of way.
