Joe Biden is once again proving that the only thing he is capable of doing well is lining the pockets of his family by selling access and providing favors. While I believe he is one of the most corrupt politicians in history, I think one group that he has no ties to is the Taliban. The way he has conducted the withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan has resulted in one of the most disastrous situations in history.

Victory in Afghanistan was always going to be next to impossible. While there are many success stories in local communities and in helping women, the government there was always corrupt. Our efforts to help them build a nation and an economy were never going to succeed. Neither were we willing to do what was necessary to truly defeat the Taliban by following them into other countries and putting pressure on those countries to choose a side. You're either with us or you are with terrorism. Apparently Vietnam has been forgotten.

The disorderly withdrawal has resulted in exactly what we knew would happen. The Taliban controls the southern half of Afghanistan. They are requiring girls to register and they are forcing them to marry Taliban fighters. Women are no longer allowed to go to school or hold jobs as they did over the last decade and a half. Those who are known to be or seen as having helped the Americans are being killed. Beheading them is the preferred method.

Many of those who acted as our interpreters or fought alongside of us are being hunted down. The promise from Joe Biden to help them leave the country and come to America or go to other countries is mired in bureaucratic red tape. Those who helped us are forced to bring some sort of documentation to prove that they were on our side. The word of military men and women vouching for them counts for nothing. Many of them are being apprehended and killed by Taliban fighters because they have proof on their person that they fought against the Taliban. It is likely that the more than 10,000 potential refugees will die rather than getting out safely. That is an epic failure of the Biden administration. it sends a message to others who want to fight against terrorism that we will not stand by them when things go wrong.

Biden also ordered the return of 2000 to 3000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan in order to help evacuate the embassy and other American personnel that are there serving their government. If Biden was following the recommendations of his military advisers, they need to be fired immediately. My gut instinct is that he is not. Other men in his position with similar belief systems have ignored the military resulting in dismal failures. Think Jimmy Carter and the failed attempt to rescue hostages in Iran. Carter had defunded the military to the point that not only were they unable to train adequately, but we did not build up the intelligence network that was necessary to support a successful mission.

Those that voted for Joe Biden because they did not like Donald Trump and believed he was hurting our standing in the world had no idea how wrong they were. It's like Biden said, "hold my beer." ignoring history, ignoring facts, and acting like petulant children is resulting in the death of 10s of thousands of Afghani people, especially women and children. But Joe Biden and his supporters will not sleep fitfully because nothing is ever their fault, and they don't really care about those they claim to want to help.
