We have pulled out of Afghanistan. We no longer have a diplomatic or military presence there. The country is once again ruled by a terrorist organization that is harboring other terrorist organizations. That government has not been recognized by the western world as the legitimate government of Afghanistan, although it could be argued that Joe Biden has tacitly recognized the Taliban as a legitimate government. But for now it's not official so one has to ask why spending you've marked for Afghanistan in Joe Biden's budget is not only still a budget item, but he's planning on spending more in Afghanistan than we did last year.

One could point to the recently released transcript of the conversation that Joe Biden had with former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, to find justification for some spending. In that conversation, Joe told the former president that if he lied to the American people about the situation in Afghanistan with the Taliban, The United states would continue to provide air support to the Afghanistan military forces. It doesn't seem like that would justify an increase in spending but it could be interpreted as such.

Another analysis of this situation could point to political chicanery. we know that Washington DC politicians like to take money that was earmarked for one purpose but was unspent, and use it for something else. It would be no surprise if Joe Biden decided he wanted to use that money for some other purpose for which he could not get funding from Congress. Maybe like providing a universal guaranteed basic income so that more U.S. citizens become dependent upon the government.

While both of those scenarios are possible, I do not think they are probable. The Taliban now sits on one of the largest reserves of lithium ore in the world. With the push towards so-called green energy production and modes of transportation, lithium is a very vital part of batteries that power vehicles, homes, and storage of alternatively produced electricity. I can make a very strong case that Joe Biden would use that money to help Afghanistan develop the means to mine, process, and sell lithium to those that will use it to make batteries.

Some of you public school graduates on the left side of the aisle might think that's a good thing. You would be right but not in the way that you think you are. China would be the beneficiary of developing Afghanistan's mining industry. They would no doubt be able to work out a deal that would provide them with a source of lithium so they could make batteries and sell them to the rest of the world further making us dependent upon China's manufacturing industry. No doubt Joe Biden, through Hunter Biden, would profit financially. Hunter would be named to the board of some obscure company that was making billions off the process and he would be paid handsomely, and dad would certainly get his cut.

Maybe I'm cynical. Maybe Joe Biden's motives are humanitarian. But that would be the first time in his life that he did something, albeit with someone else's money, that could be considered humanitarian and selfless. Stop laughing! People can change. OK, you're right.
