Kathy Eaton and Sunny Yates, members of the Rotary Club of Silver City, have been selected as co-directors of Rotary District 5520's Leadership Camp for girls. They will be responsible for all aspects of the Girls' RYLA camp in July 2015.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) camp is an intensive week-long training camp that brings together youth and adults to develop character and foster leadership, expand self-confidence, share career information and skills, promote friendship and fellowship and learn more about Rotary. The main goal of the camp is to develop lifelong leadership skills through teamwork, motivation and communication while focusing on each student's individual strengths and abilities.

Separate camping weeks are conducted for boys and for girls and all campers selected are sponsored by Rotary, so this experience is offered at no cost to individual students' families. Boys' RYLA camp will be held on July 12 to July 18, and Girls' RYLA Camp will be held July 18- July 24. Both sessions will be held at Manzano Mountain Retreat near Mountainair.

Applications to attend this year's RYLA camp are still being accepted from high school students who will enter their senior year this fall. The application form is available in the youth/leadership section of the Rotary Club web site at www.silvercityrotary.org Completed applications must be submitted to Kevin Cook, Silver City Rotary Club RYLA Coordinator, by April 1, 2015.

For more information, contact Kevin Cook at Kevinhcook@yahoo.com or by calling (575) 538-9001.
