Lordsburg, NM: The Dream Makers Club will graduate 45 students on Friday, April 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lordsburg Gymnasium, 1352 Hardin St., in Lordsburg, NM. The public is invited to attend to celebrate the students' accomplishments.

Dream Makers Clubs focus on middle school students interested in pursuing careers in health care. There are three chapters in southwest New Mexico: Deming's Red Mountain Middle School, Lordsburg's Duran-Tarango Middle School, and Silver City's La Plata Middle School.

The clubs give students the opportunity to interact with professionals in a variety of health fields, who share their experiences and knowledge with the students. Club members also get hands-on learning labs including a suturing workshop, casting demonstration and a dissection lab.

FORWARD NM Director Miriam Kellerman says, "Dream Makers clubs are part of a myriad of programs that FORWARD NM offers to students in our region. It is intended to give a wider perspective about possibilities of careers within the health industry. Eighth graders have the opportunity for fun and interactive hands on sessions, as well as directly talking and asking questions to professionals and advanced grade students of different health related disciplines"

The Dream Makers program is a partnership between FORWARD NM and University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Office of Diversity and supported by local school districts in southwest New Mexico.
