rowan and kiteThe Hunt and Burchett families attended the annual Kite Day at Alma on Saturday April 6. The wind was not totally cooperative but for the most part the kites got in some good flying time. This is a free event that is wonderful for all generations. Pat and Dusty Hunt, their daughter Alida, grandchildren Rowan, 6, and Brennan Burchett, almost 3, enjoyed the company of fellow kite enthusiasts, a beautiful moderately warm day, a picnic tailgate lunch and the thrill of seeing the unlimited variety of kite sizes, shapes and colors.

To top off the fun, Rowan won the “door” prize, a beautiful monster-sized red kite. Later in the afternoon, a front moved into the area with steady winds and the new kite went up and stayed up until the family decided it was time to head home grateful for the folks that make this event possible.
