tour power and light printing Left to Right: Audrey Hernandez, Anabella Lopez, Ella Bertolani, Rylee Reyes, Kyle Durrie (holding Frankie), Angelina Hernandez, Heather Steinmann, Sophie Landreth, Samantha Armstrong, Kylynn Marshall, Hope Manos, and Emma Vega.Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest toured Power and Light Press with owner Kyle Durrie in downtown Silver City. They were able to print a poem on a printing press from 1923. They worked with Heather Steinmann, a writing professor at WNMU, the week before. Steinmann is also former Girl Scout. Heather practiced yoga with the girls then sat down with her laptop to ask the girls questions about "Girls." Then their words were put into their poem, "Girls are brave." The Girl Scout experience gives young women the confidence to and the tools to lead, to find inside the uncertain girl, the citizen who will make a difference in her world.
