The two-day education and training program was conducted Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, at the hospital, and supervised by Dr. Donald Stinar, Dr. Nathan Williams, Donna Kiehne, CNP, and GRMC clinical directors including Bertie Vesely, RN, Octavia Djanque, RN, Rexine Sierra, RN, Stephanie Provencio, RN, and Vince Torres, RN. The RNs who received certification include Max Rothpletz, Vince Torres, Christina, Solberg, Victoria Vega, Meagan Montoya, Stephanie Provencio, Sonya Rivera, Jessica Sprague, James Vigil, Annabelle Evans, and Jessica Escobar.

According to the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Fundamental Critical Care Support training prepares non-intensivists to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours until transfer or appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The course assists the non-intensivist in dealing with the sudden deterioration of critically ill patients and prepares house staff and nurses for ICU coverage.
