img 1371From left are Linda Beattie, GCFRW Treasurer; Gabrielle Hughes; and Laura Wiest, GCFRW Historian.Grant County Federated Republican Women were proud to award a $250 scholarship to a very deserving graduating senior at Silver City High School on June 13, 2019. Gabrielle Hughes has been active in multiple school and community organizations, while working part-time at Lotta Burger and still keeping an A- average.  Hughes was actively involved in student government - serving as a class officer in her sophomore and junior years. She was Vice-President of Key Club as a junior and senior.

Her extra-curriculum activities included: Student Council, Key Club, Science Olympiad, Evolvement, National Honor Society, National Dance Institute, and soccer. She received varsity letters in tennis and band. Hughes was a Silver City High School Gold Scholar. She has also volunteered on several community service projects including:  the Red Hot Children's Fiesta, The Newman Center Food Pantry, and bell ringing for Kiwanis. Hughes will attend Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, AZ.
