dr worrell 0042 400pxSilver City, NM, June 10, 2019 – Gila Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Andre Worrell, MD, FAAP, to the medical staff. Dr. Worrell is a pediatrician and neonatologist with a special interest in newborn neonatology. Dr. Worrell completed undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Aberdeen University, Scotland, UK, in 1982, and obtained his medical degree from The University of the West Indies in 1989. He later completed General Pediatric Residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship training, respectively, at Howard University and Brown University Medical School. He is board-certified in General Pediatrics and Neonatology.

Dr. Worrell credits his childhood Pediatrician for the inspiration to enter the field of Medical Science.

"As a child I had severe asthma and allergies," he said. "My doctor not only treated me, he took care of me. He was my inspiration to go into medicine, to care for children."

Dr. Worrell believes in a collegial approach, promoting family-centered care, utilizing quality-improvement principles of best practices to benefit patients, families and the healthcare team.

"I am comfortable treating kids from 23 weeks old to young adult," says Dr. Worrell. "I have profound gratitude to patients, their families, mentors, colleagues and The Almighty for the ability to facilitate healing of mind, body and soul, one child at a time."
