October 29, 2019, Silver City, NM – The Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Auxiliary and GRMC Foundation each awarded nine recipients with scholarships at this month’s GRMC Board of Trustees Meeting. Dr. Joseph Shepard, WNMU President, participated in the presentation, alongside Tony Trujillo, GRMC Board Chair, County Commissioner, Billy Billings, and representatives of the GRMC Foundation and Auxiliary Scholarship Committees.

This year’s (nine) scholarship recipients include: Lilia Cordova; Pedro Corral; Candace Laramore; Kyle Lipke; Star Ann Moon; Analissa Quinteros; Kathleen Villanueva; David Montes; and Savannah Parga. Each year, between seven and eleven eligible students receive up to $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) in tuition aid from the GRMC Foundation and the GRMC Auxiliary. Eligible students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and are enrolled to complete a degree program or have received training to meet a current professional requirement.

The GRMC Auxiliary Scholarship Program is supported by the proceeds received from its annual fundraising events and those collected directly from the GRMC Auxiliary Gift Shop. The GRMC Foundation Scholarship Program continues to receive support from their annual golf tournament proceeds and Foundation endowments.

Taffy Arias, GRMC Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Gila Regional Medical Center is honored to have the unwavering support of the GRMC Foundation and the GRMC Auxiliary. These students will always be grateful for this financial support.”
