Silver City, NM, January 3, 2020 – It’s a new decade and the first baby born in Silver City arrived on January 2, 2020 at Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC).

Leo Anthony Grijalva was born at 10:05pm on Thursday, January 2, 2020. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds 14 ounces and measured 20 inches long. Proud parents, Ashley Ortega and Lawrence Grijalva, were thrilled with Leo’s birth.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to Ashley, Lawrence, and the entire Grijalva family on the birth of baby Leo,” stated Taffy Arias, GRMC Chief Executive Officer. Arias added, “Welcoming a new baby into this world is a wonderful way to ring in 2020 – and also a new decade – at GRMC.”

With the assistance of the GRMC Auxiliary, the GRMC Foundation donated a generous gift basket of baby toiletries and other helpful items – valued at $250 – as a “congratulations” gift to baby Leo and his parents.
