Intel announced today that 40 New Mexico educators have received funding to support their STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) initiatives in celebration of the company’s 40th anniversary in New Mexico. Hampton Burnette, a teacher at Cobre High School in Bayard, is receiving $2,500 to support the Cobre Media film program.

Although much has changed since the call for nominations was announced in February, Intel is thrilled to support our local educators in continuing to inspire New Mexico’s next generation of innovators and STEM professionals.

“New Mexico has a long history of being a leader in the technology industry and Intel an excellent community partner that supports education in our state. Intel continues to show their commitment to education with these forty grants, which will enhance the development of our students’ capabilities in STEM throughout New Mexico,” shared Jerry Schalow, Executive Director of the Rio Rancho Community Foundation.

Erika Edgerly, Intel Public Affairs Director, shared, “Congratulations to the grant recipients and thank you to the educators from across the state who continue to inspire students and foster their interest in STEM education. We can’t wait to see how you impact our next generation of STEM leaders and innovators.”
