The Silver City Rotary Club has been named the Medium-Sized Club of the Year by Rotary District 5520 which has a total of 67 Rotary Clubs in New Mexico and West Texas.

“The Silver City Rotary Club accomplished a large number of community projects for a club its size and exceeded its giving goals to the Rotary Foundation and to Rotary International’s Polio Plus efforts,” said Gary King, immediate past district governor for District 5520 and a member of the Moriarty, NM club. Polio Plus is Rotary International’s effort to eradicate polio world-wide.

“The Silver City Club is also the home club of our newly elected District Governor, Sunny Kellerman,” King said.

Kellerman notes that other factors in the Silver City Club’s selection were its participation in global grants, its effort in getting out word about the club’s activities to the public, and its increase in membership.

“The Silver City Rotary Club is a very dynamic group of Rotarians,” says King, “and past president Rosie Higgs and all of the club members are to be congratulated on all their hard work.”

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united world-wide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build good will and peace in the world. Rotary is the world’s oldest and largest service organization with more than 1.2 million members in more than 167 countries.
