In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, this week Silver City Police officers delivered 50 turkeys to families in each of the eight schools in the Silver Consolidated School District, including the Silver Scholars Pre-K class. The annual holiday turkey giveaway is helping some 40 families have a happier Thanksgiving in Grant County.

Turkeys were also donated to El Refugio and El Grito Head Start. Money raised from the Silver City Police Department's annual "No Shave November" campaign paid for the traditional holiday birds, as well as 34 $20 food gift cards.

Silver City Police Officers' donations will also provide new winter coats to children in need this Christmas.
