Society President Dr. Doug Dinwiddie stated: “Ansel is being recognized for his constant devotion to the cause of saving and telling the story of historic Fort Bayard. There is no project too large or too small for Ansel, who gives freely of his time, energy and financial support for our many activities. In addition to wielding hammers and paint brushes, he also regularly regales visitors to the museum with his colorful stories of the frontier cavalry, portraying Captain Charles Beyer of the 9th Cavalry in living history programs.”
