The students of Off College Institute of Cosmetology were uplifting high school prom-goers’ spirits, and hair.

This year, the Silver City Woman’s Club asked for donations of gently-used prom dresses, and were overwhelmed with the generosity of Silver Citizens. “We received about 40 to 50 dresses, and also had donated costume jewelry, and new false eyelash and fingernail sets. The updo at the beauty school was a wonderful bonus,” said Lorraine Anglin, the president of the Woman’s Club. “We’ll definitely be doing this again next year, but even better!”

This was Silver High School’s Jordyn Andazola’s first prom, and she was excited.  Mother Dana watched on as her youngest child, usually found on basketball and volleyball courts, got a sophisticated look.  “Her auntie will be doing her make-up for tonight.” she said.

Students of the cosmetology school must hone all of the skills they learn, while owner and instructor Kelly Trinkle-Thai closely supervises. “This project is a win-win for everyone involved,” said Trinkle-Thai. “Our students get important experience that they need, and the prom-goers get to look, and feel, extra special for their special night.”
