NOTICE OF VACANCY
TOWN COUNCIL SEAT – DISTRICT 1

The Town of Silver City announces a vacancy on the Town Council due to the resignation of Councilor Rudy Bencomo. In accordance with Chapter 2, Article II, Section 2-25 of the Town of Silver City Municipal Code and Charter, the Town is seeking qualified and interested residents to fill the vacant council seat for the remainder of the term, which ends on December 31, 2027.

Eligibility
Applicants must physically reside in the town council district that the councilor represents, and each applicant must meet the residency requirements specified by NMSA 1978, § 1-22-3(B), and comply with all other applicable New Mexico election law. The Town Council district boundary map can be accessed by contacting either the Grant County Clerk's Office or the Town Clerk's Office.

Application Process
Interested individuals are invited to submit a Letter of Interest and Résumé outlining their background, qualifications, and reasons for seeking appointment to the Town Council. Applications must be submitted to:

Deadline for Submission
The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Following the application period, the Mayor and Town Council will review submissions and may conduct interviews prior to making an appointment on December 9, 2025.
