 to exploring and protecting heritage places while honoring their diverse va
 lues. In Grant County and across the Southwest, the organization stewards h
 eritage properties and conservation easements, advocates for landscape-scal
 e protection, conducts low-impact research, and mobilizes research results 
 through outreach to the public and decision-makers. Archaeology Southwest i
 s committed to continuous collaborations with Indigenous communities. John 
 will provide an overview of Archeology Southwest’s current activities, rece
 nt research, and hot topic preservation issues. \nWelch directs the Landsca
 pe and Site Protection Program at Archaeology Southwest and is a founding m
 ember of the board for the Fort Apache Heritage Foundation and previously s
 erved as a director on the boards of the National Association of Tribal His
 toric Preservation Officers and the Arizona Wilderness Coalition. Welch is 
 also a professor, jointly appointed in the Department of Archaeology and th
