SUMMARY:“Respecting the Ancients: Remembering the Mimbres Through a Murder Mystery,” at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
LOCATION:3845 N Swan Street
DESCRIPTION:March 26, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street –  “Respecting the Ancients: Rem
embering the Mimbres Through a Murder Mystery”    \nMarty Eberhardt will di
scuss and read from her second novel in the Bea Rivers series, “Bones in th
e Back Forty.”\nIn this book, a gardener digs up an old skeleton on the gro
unds of Tucson’s Shandley Gardens. Volunteer coordinator Bea Rivers discove
rs that the victim, a man who disappeared in 1969, may be connected to a sm
all town in southwest New Mexico, where he’d made quite a few enemies among
amateur archaeologists. The cast of quirky suspects exposes a culture of a
rchaeological looting. The book comports with the first principle of Unitar
ian Universalism, the inherent worth and dignity of every person. \nEberhar
dt will read passages that take place in southwest New Mexico. There will b
e plenty of time for questions, and books will be available for signing aft
er the service.\nMarty Eberhardt’s first novel, “Death in a Desert Garden,”
won the Arizona/New Mexico Book Award for cozy mystery in 2022, the Firebi
rd Award for western fiction, the silver Firebird Award for cozy mystery, a
nd the bronze CIPA/EVVY award for cozy mystery. She and her husband Phil di
vide their time between Silver City and Tucson, enjoying the flora and faun
a of both.\nThere are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the se
rvice outside.\nThis Sunday there will be a Children’s Religious Education
program. Parents are invited to bring children four years old and above to
attend youth-led classes. Ninth grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge, a former CRE
student, will read a story and lead a lesson on “Spring”\nUUFSC Safety Pro
tocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:\nWe will not be servin
g food or drinks in the building until further notice. Masks will still nee
d to be worn at all times indoors and out except when eating or drinking. W
e will continue to serve refreshments on the patio, weather permitting. Vis
