Dear Editor,

I would like to congratulate the voters of Grant County for electing Rebecca Dow and seeing past the dirty lies and smear campaign against her.

I find it appalling that someone who studied social work would bring up the painful past of an abused teen for the public to see, all for political gain.

I'm not a social worker, yet I feel I am correct in assuming they are taught and entrusted to protect victims and their families. That's what I would want from a behavioral health provider if a member of my family were ever in a similar situation. To make matters worse, I know of children right in our district who were subjected to dark advertisements against Rebecca while watching different children's programming on their devices. Fortunately, some of these children were able to share with their parents what they saw and were able to receive emotional help to process their fears.

I'm proud to have been part of the majority in Grant County who supported Rebecca Dow in her re-election bid. She truly has a servant's heart as our voluntary representative. We are blessed to have her as an open, transparent leader. Even without pledging to uphold the social worker code of ethics, Rebecca honored the privacy of the teen victim, remained focused on policy and the work to be done if we sent her back to Santa Fe.

Rebecca will continue to engage us in the political process in Santa Fe, keeps us informed on what is happening during the sessions. She stands up and will stand up and for us and our way of life. Again, thank you Grant County.
