Santa Fe, NM - Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM), via its coordinated political action committee CVNM Action Fund (CVNMAF), continues its efforts to build a strong political voice for our air, land and water by endorsing candidates who will work for resilient New Mexico families and sustainable communities. CVNMAF has endorsed three Grant County Commission candidates for the June 7, 2016 primary election.

"Though CVNM has not traditionally engaged in races on the county level, the 2016 Grant County Commission elections present a unique opportunity for CVNM to begin developing best practices and build a base of experience that will guide our county level electoral program in the future," says Ben Shelton, CVNM Political and Legislative Director. "Several of New Mexico's most contentious environmental debates are playing out in and impacting Grant County - debates our supporters care deeply about. We are excited to support pro-conservation leaders at the county level who will represent their constituents' conservation values on these issues."

In 2016, the Grant County Commission is expanding from three commissioners to five. The county is ground zero for the environmental impacts of the so-called Copper Rule and the debate over the future of the Gila River.

CVNM and CVNMAF's endorsements for Grant County Commission's primary election are as follows:

Grant County Commission
District 3: Alicia Edwards
District 4: Marilyn Alcorn
District 5: Harry Browne

CVNM and CVNMAF do not endorse in uncontested races. The endorsements listed above are for the primary election only. General election endorsements will be announced at a later date. For more information on our endorsement process, please visit www.CVNMActionFund.org.
