DPNM Chair Marg Elliston released the following statement in response to President Trump’s planned rally in Rio Rancho, New Mexico:

This president has built his administration on hateful policies and false promises. Since the beginning of his campaign, he has been focused on attacking and demonizing many of the hardworking communities that make New Mexico so strong.

Just recently, President Trump showed that pandering to his base and pursuing a racist vanity project are more important than the well-being of service members in New Mexico. His administration announced that they are stealing money from critical military projects in our state to fund an unnecessary border wall. Now he’s coming to Rio Rancho to tout those same divisive and destructive policies.

New Mexicans deserve a president who celebrates and appreciates all of the hardworking people who keep our country moving forward. Our state does not support this administration’s un-American agenda, and Democrats will be loud and clear in our opposition to President Trump’s hateful rhetoric.
