Party Statement on Speaker Pelosi and Articles of Impeachment

Albuquerque, December 5-- Chairman Steve Pearce issued this statement today regarding Speaker Pelosi's call for articles of impeachment against President Trump:

“What Speaker Pelosi did today was a disgrace to our nation and to our Constitution. Our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves after getting a “history lesson” from the Speaker. She has asked President Trump to prove his innocence: what happened to the 5th Amendment and to Due Process? She hasn’t defended the Constitution herself, particularly on 2nd Amendment rights. There’s been no extortion, no bribery, no abuse of power by the President and no evidence whatsoever that Democrats can turn to. Why can't the Democrats focus on jobs, USMCA and real issues instead of this farce? They will soon have egg on their faces should this sham head to the Senate. I believe this travesty and shameful hearings will backfire in 2020 and Republicans will take back the House.”
