WHAT'S HAPPENINGREPUBLICAN PARTY OF NEW MEXICO TO SUE GOVERNOR OVER HER UNJUST PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER

The Republican Party of New Mexico has announced it is taking legal action against Gov. Lujan Grisham over her public health order. Details of the lawsuit are pending, but RPNM, along with GOP legislative leadership, claim the governor's discriminatory and inequitable policies have caused substantial damage to New Mexico's business communities, the state's fiscal health and peoples' livelihoods. Questions have also been raised about civil rights violations under her order."The governor's tactics to impose sanctions on small businesses continue to show her refusal to be equitable in her public health orders. Fairness and justice are foreign concepts to her. She fails to understand that her mandates are killing businesses and the livelihood of New Mexican workers," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. "Every paycheck, every job, and the civil liberties of every New Mexican is essential, even if the governor doesn't think so.""The outpouring of support to fund this legal effort has been overwhelming, said Republican House Leader Jim Townsend. "The Governor's orders have put our state in such a position that our only recourse now is legal action. Hundreds of businesses across the state have already gone out of business. 210 restaurants have closed their doors for good - that represents over 4,500 employees who have lost their jobs."When you're trying to feed a family or care for a sick child, every job is essential.

GOVERNOR RELAXES PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER THIS PAST WEEK: POLICIES STILL PAINFUL FOR NEW MEXICANSGov. Lujan Grisham has made changes to her public health order this past week. Retailers are now able to operate at 25% and houses of worship also now at 25% (when she announced the modified order, churches were to be at 10% capacity, but she changed that two days later). Restaurants, bars and other businesses (salons, gyms, for example) remain closed except for delivery/curbside. This makes no sense. The governor continues to ignore the hardships of small establishments and is putting more of a financial burder on constituents. Her order doesn't go far enough--it's too little too late. Industries are dying, businesses are crumbling and hope is withering. Doesn't she understand that every job, every paycheck is critical for New Mexicans?

STATE HITS CHURCH WITH CEASE AND DESIST ORDEROn Mother's Day New Mexico State Police served the pastor of New Hope Revival Church in Sierra County with a Cease & Desist order for his House of Worship. The church had services the week before, simply exercising its freedom of religion."This is the latest example of how peoples' rights are being trampled on.," said Chairman Pearce. "This goes beyond a small business being fined unfairly to save lives and livelihoods. The state's position is now to ignore the notion that our Constitution continues even in a crisis and to infringe upon the civil rights of our citizens and their rights to freely worship."

GOVERNOR'S ORDER LEADS TO DINING DISASTER FOR NEW MEXICO RESTAURANTS Gov. Lujan Grisham's public health order is having a devastating impact on New Mexico restaurants. More than 200 restaurants have been forced to close their doors permanently because of the restrictions placed on them by Lujan Grisham. Restaurants are still unable to open their doors for dine-in services, forced to have delivery and curbside service as their means of income. After two months, many restaurants have been unable to keep their heads above water. The governor's unfair and inequitable order is ruining livelihoods.
