Governor Resorts to Immature Name-calling as Protesters Remind the Chief Executive of Her Failed Performance

Albuquerque, June 9—Gov. Lujan Grisham is showing constituents her true colors—and it's not related to any county lockdown status. She is avoiding her constituents and the truth.

The Governor is ducking the public after she found out first-hand at her reelection kickoff how angry citizens are at her dictatorial and unjust policies.

When Lujan Grisham announced in Albuquerque her intention to seek reelection, a small group of protesters exercised their right to demonstrate. They shouted out how she has destroyed our economy, treated New Mexicans like "subjects" and infringed upon peoples' freedoms with her inequitable and illegal COVID policies and impulsive actions.

The Governor couldn't handle it. She panicked as she was reminded of how she's treated people this past year.

The Governor then lashed out at these constituents, calling them "QAnon lizard people." Is this the way to treat New Mexicans? This outburst was inexcusable and childish, and her remarks were offensive and hateful.

These protesters rightfully pointed out that the Governor's policies closed businesses, shuttered schools, collapsed our economy, caused suicides and mental health crises and led to shattered livelihoods.

These voters made it clear how they feel. And they feel pain. They are suffering.

The Governor is obviously unprepared and afraid to deal with the repercussions of her past actions. She now has to deflect New Mexicans' anger by resorting to insults. How horrifying to witness a supposed leader seeking reelection to refer to citizens as "QAnon lizard people!"

Whether she likes it or not, the Governor represents these demonstrators. There's a backlash from New Mexicans, and she refuses to address it or accept it, instead hurling insults in an embarrassing, desperate defense.

Then she gives up. This small group of protesters effectively shut down her campaign.

The Governor aborted this Albuquerque announcement and then immediately canceled a scheduled campaign event in Espanola, another Democratic stronghold.

It's obvious the Governor refuses to deal with any confrontation and so decides to vanish.

"The Governor's offensive remarks prove she doesn't grasp, or more likely, doesn't want to grasp, what is happening in her state," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. "She has to take responsibility for the absolute chaos and destruction she has caused during her tenure. To cancel an event and avoid her constituents who have a voice is a true sign of weakness. This Governor is running scared and hiding. She doesn't deserve to serve another four years."

The Governor is also dodging the press. She simply won't face the music. She refused to take questions at her Albuquerque campaign event, and one local television station reports at least five interview requests have been declined or ignored since it was learned that the state overpaid unemployment benefits.

This Governor continues to hide and refuses to answer for the many problems, mismanagement and scandals that have scarred her first term. The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico.
