Average Price Now Just 4 Cents Below All-Time High

Albuquerque – New Mexico's families are waking up to even higher gas prices today as the average price for a gallon of gas is now more than $4.00 after jumping up 14 cents overnight. Now, the average of $4.038 per gallon is only 4 cents lower than the highest ever recorded average price.

"This is a man-made energy crisis and the silence from leaders in Santa Fe is deafening," said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. "Terrible policy decisions out of Washington, with the full support of Governor Lujan Grisham, have delivered massive energy bills to New Mexico's families. Governor Lujan Grisham will try to dance around the truth, but New Mexicans know she has a long anti-energy record and now we're all paying the price.

Senators Lujan and Heinrich should also explain to New Mexicans why they will vote against the Keystone pipeline but then vote in favor of Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline. These leaders have delivered a massive climate tax and it's hurting our families."

While it's well known President Biden's cancellation of the Keystone pipeline hurt American energy independence, it's less known that Governor Lujan Grisham voted against the pipeline while a member of Congress.

Gas prices in New Mexico are currently more than 47% higher when compared to the same time last year.
