Does New Mexico have a real Representative in Melanie Stansbury, or do we have someone that kowtows to and is under the thumb of the Democratic Leadership in Washington?

House Resolution 11, which creates a Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States of America and the Chinese Communist Party earned an emphatic "NAY" from Representative Stansbury when the Resolution came up for a vote. A resounding "NAY" was also heard from Representative Stansbury when H.R. 22, which would prohibit the release of petroleum products from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and the sale of those products to ANY entity owned or controlled by the People's Republic of China, was put on the floor for a vote.

With information that Representative Stansbury must have at her disposal, she should realize what a danger the Chinese Communist Regime poses to the security, and prosperity of the United States. She must realize that the oil we produce and strategically store is for emergency purposes for use in the defense of the United States of America or to supplement our own needs.

Economics does not seem to be a strong point of Ms. Stansbury, and she either does not understand the necessity of establishing in the House of Representatives, a Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and China or the impact that the Communist Chinese economy has on the United States A Newsweek article quoted from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which published a report that says, "Global trends to 2040 show a top relationship between Beijing and Washington with China set to surpass the United States as the world's largest economy and advancing down a path to reclaiming a global power role."

Representative Stansbury seems to have no real knowledge of our SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserves). The Rand corporation has told us that selling oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is a BAD idea.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is a massive supply of crude oil maintained by the Energy Department for emergencies, such as price spikes in international oil markets due to supply disruptions. Reuters reported that "More than 5 million barrels of oil that were part of a historic U.S. emergency reserves release to lower domestic fuel prices were exported to Europe and Asia in June 2022.

"The reserve is currently authorized to hold more than 700 million barrels of emergency crude oil that can be released under certain conditions. That includes emergency drawdowns due to oil supply disruptions, such as those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022," the article continued.

Representative Stansbury is STRONGLY urged to review her position on the Economic Stability of the United States in the Global Market and to educate herself on the Strategic Petroleum Reserves the United States owns. She must remember she is a United States Citizen and should be concerned, especially, with the Stability and Security of the United States in the Global Market place. She must also remember, as well, how energy independent we used to be and are not now.

Stansbury gets a D- for being a representative.
