“History, Progress, Hope and the Tinker Bell Effect,” at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City
Sunday, March 27, 2022, 10:00am |
Although history exposes us to a great deal of racism, sexism, genocide, war, and environmental destruction, it also provides us with stories of people who found a way to move humanity forward and make the world a little more humane. Jim Smith will explore the art of teaching history as a way to inspire students with evidence that humanity, occasionally in spite of itself, can stumble forward and do the right thing.
Jim Smith is a retired history teacher and education consultant who has made presentations on history and writing throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has been recognized as a New Mexico Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for National Teachers Hall of Fame.
We may have the back door open and ceiling fans going, so please bring a jacket to stay warm.
