maxwell photoThe Grant County Community Concert Association will host The Maxwell Quartet, Tuesday Jan 14 at 7:00 PM in the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theater.  The program will include melodies from the classical masters as well as Scottish folk music.

1st Prize winner and Audience Prize winner at the Trondheim (Norway) International Chamber Music Competition in 2017, the Maxwell Quartet has been hailed for "great communication" by The Strad Magazine and as “brilliantly fresh, unexpected and exhilarating” by The Scottish Herald.

The Glasgow-based Maxwell Quartet is now firmly regarded as one of Britain's finest string quartets, with performances set apart by the tribute they pay to their Scottish folk music heritage.

The Maxwell Quartet consists of four great friends who grew up playing classical and folk music together in youth orchestras and music schools across Scotland.  Performing widely across Scotland, the quartet has established a reputation for delighting audiences with their "unaffected enthusiasm" (North Highland Times) and their "panache and conviction" (Strathearn Herald).

This concert continues their first North American tour that started in the winter 2019 and coincided with the release of their début CD, featuring works by Haydn and traditional Scottish folk music.

Adult tickets are $20 for non-subscribers, children to age 17 are free with adult ticket holder.  Tickets can be purchased at the Pink Store or MRAC office in the Wells Fargo building, at the door the day of the concert or on line at www.gcconcert.org.  For more info call 575-538-5862.
