missyandersen promophoto3Blues/Americana Artists Missy and Heine Andersen Perform at Mimbres Region Arts Council’s Folk Series at The Buckhorn Opera House on Saturday, January 25, 2020

SILVER CITY, NM – The Mimbres Region Arts Council, in conjunction with premier sponsor Cissy McAndrew/United County Mimbres Realty, lodging sponsor Holiday Inn Express, and Gila Mimbres Community Radio announces the second concert for the 2019-2020 Indie/Folk series. Missy and Heine Andersen take the stage Saturday, January 25 at 7:30 pm at the Buckhorn Opera House, in the scenic mountain town of Pinos Altos- just a 10-minute drive from Silver City.

Missy Andersen and her accompanist/husband, Heine Andersen, love what they do. Keeping a heavy touring schedule, the tenacious twosome performs as a duo which showcases the couple’s individual and combined talents. In the absence of other instruments, listeners find a greater appreciation for Missy’s gospel-tinged vocals and Heine’s Blues & Americana inspired guitar work.

Missy Andersen was a popular performer at 2016 Blues Festival and has professed her love for Silver City. Missy received the coveted Blues Music Award nomination for Soul Blues Female Artist in 2015 and then again in 2016. Raised in Queens, NY, Missy grew up singing along to the blues, soul, and gospel music of her parents and grandparents. Says Missy, “My dad is from South Carolina and my mother is from Detroit so, basically, I’m bilingual. I speak North and South so that’s soul and blues.”

Originally from Denmark, but steeped in American Roots music, Heine Andersen has toured extensively in both Europe and North America, playing some of the most prestigious stages and festivals throughout his career. Noted for his polyrhythmic acoustic style, Heine plays lead and rhythm as well as bass lines simultaneously.

Don’t miss out on the chance to hear Missy and Heine Andersen at the historic and intimate Buckhorn Opera House. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the performance begins at 7:30 pm.
