A trail race in the Gila National Forest.
The Little Walnut Mountain Run is a 10-kilometer footrace crossing the Continental Divide on the shoulder of Eighty Mountain and climbing to the summit of Gomez Peak. The trails are rocky, steep, and beautiful. A 5-kilometer option is also available, it's only half as rocky, steep, and beautiful. Pie and refreshments served post-race. Prizes will be awarded to the top racers. $30 entry fee. Pre-registration available online.
This fun event is a fundraiser for the Silver City Farmers' Market.
