A Quarantine Story...on Zoom! “Entertainment has been hard to find in Grant County during the COVID quarantine, and Silver City Community Theatre (SCCT) players are getting restless,” according to Phyllis McQuaide, SCCT President. “So SCCT will present three short plays free on Zoom this summer. “The plays will be broadcast at 7 pm on the third Saturdays of July, August, and September. We invite our members and friends to join us in this Zoom adventure…Let us entertain you!”

“The first play is ‘Sheltering-Out Of-Place’ by Sylvia Ashby,” according to Greg Bond who will perform along with MaryAnn Marlar. “We chose this play because it is all about today! It is about the stress of locking down for the pandemic, being ‘incarcerated together,’ as one of our characters says. We think everyone will recognize something in our little romantic comedy.”

“‘Sheltering-Out Of-Place’ will be on Zoom Saturday, July 18 at 7 pm. This is the webinar link for the actual performance. Download the Zoom App and enter Webinar ID: 997 1824 476. Or just enter https://zoom.us/j/99718244762 in your browser. Audience spaces are limited so we urge everyone to log-in early,” according to McQuaide. "Also, 'Sheltering-Out Of-Place' will be on SCCT's website through the end of July."

“‘All You Get’ will be presented August 15 and ‘Just a Song at Twilight,’ on September 19.” McQuaide said. “Send your email address to contact@silvercitycommunitytheater.com, and we’ll send you the Zoom meeting information for each play. Or, check SCCT’s Website, Facebook and Instagram, or the newspapers and community schedules for log-in information.”

“Be the Community in Community Theater—join SCCT! Individual and family memberships receive tickets and admission to opening night parties and workshops.  Family memberships are $35; individual memberships, $20. Additionally, we have great community sponsors and recognize them in programs and other publications,” according to McQuaide.

A home-grown theater company, SCCT grew out of a series of acting classes presented by The Western Institute for Lifelong Learning (WILL). Several class members joined forces to create the Silver City Community Theatre. Now after 6 years and many productions, SCCT’s mission continues: to enrich, educate and entertain the Silver City and Grant County communities by providing a broad range of live theater experiences on a recurring, seasonal basis.

SCCT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
