Special programming will feature local musicians, writers, and commentators who may be brand new to some listeners, along with many regularly scheduled programs the station’s listeners have come to rely on. A spokesperson for the radio station said... “Among the special features that will be heard during this event are a September 17 interview with Senator Martin Heinrich on the legislation he and Senator Tom Udall have introduced to designate the Gila River as wild and scenic and Cerro de la Olla as a protected wilderness, environmental scientist Dr. Kenneth Sexton’s recommendations for realistic risk reduction as New Mexico cautiously reopens while the coronavirus pandemic persists, and Mimbres Valley musicians never before heard on the radio.” 

GMCR and KURU broadcast music, news and public affairs, cultural and educational topics, and commentary, with Spanish-language in addition to English programming, 24/7. Locally produced programs include Earth Matters, Local Flavor, Roots and Branches, Jazz from the Gila, Rambling Radio Revival, Mitchellaneous, Travelers in the Night – plus such new programs as the Quarentour music show Fridays at 8:00 p.m. hosted by Marcus Hanson, Big Band Resurrection Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. hosted by Paula Geisler, Friendly Fire, a Voice for Veterans with host Don Kimball, and Kindred Continuum with four different programs that are each presented monthly at 10 a.m. on Mondays.
