ofrendasThere are many happenings planned for this year’s unique and thoughtful Dia de los Muertos in Silver City. Perhaps nothing is more important to this traditional community event than the making of ofrendas and the procession that is done in their honor.

Downtown businesses are invited to participate in the 2020 Silver City Dia de los Muertos with the creation of ofrendas in remembrance of those friends and family gone before. There will be a virtual procession the afternoon of November 1 that will give the public the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and variety of the ofrendas.

Businesses may choose to display their ofriendas in the windows for the enjoyment of those walking or driving by.  It is suggested that the ofiendas be on display at least a week in advance of the date of the procession. A display of marigolds in front of participating businesses would be an appropriate touch and a visual indication as to who is participating in this very special part of Dia de los Muertos.

Please call Diana Ingalls Leyba at 575-388-5725 if your business is preparing an ofrenda so that your shop or gallery  can be indicated as being  on the route for the procession and also be included in the virtual procession on November 1.
